All You Grocery Challenge... how I'm going to win :-)

The All You Grocery Challenge starts this Sunday (June 20).  Hopefully you signed up because entries are closed, but I will keep you up to date on my weekly (daily sometimes) grocery trips for the next 4 weeks.

Here's how it works.  You are "challenged" to only spend $25 per week on each family member in your house (over the age 12 months).  You are graded on spending guidelines (50%), creativity and ingenuity (25%), and healthy choices (25%).

The grand prize winner will receive $1000 grocery card!  I figured what the heck I could do this blind folded lol =) so I decided to "saddle up" and go for a ride.  If, nothing more it will be fun to show you exactly what I'm buying and how much I spend on our families groceries.  To encourage you to do the same for your families.  Just think for every $0.50 you save from a coupon, that's $0.50 more you can spend some place else (or give some to someone in need).

How I'm going to win the All You Grocery Challenge :-)

  • Always stay within spending guidelines

  • Bring my family back to the dinner table and not eat out.

  • Cook in bulk and freeze for future lunches and dinners.

  • Bake more instead of purchasing snacks.

  • Eat out of our garden : )

  • Feed our family smaller portions (and let them ask for seconds).  This is not only a money saver, but a healthy tip as well.

  • Stock up on stores Loss Leaders

  • Take inventory of our stockpile and use it!

  •   Throw NO food away (again make them ask for seconds).

  • When purchasing produce only buy what's on sale!

  • No purchasing pre-made drinks... brew more sun tea (yum)!
There you have it... check back on Sunday to see what I purchased!

*Our family has two adults, a 16 year old boy and a 2 year old girl ($100 per week max).

Good luck on the challenge! I didn't join it because even though I use coupons and only buy on sale, I wasn't sure if I would make the challenge because with the kids home for summer, I have to buy a little more groceries. I look forward to seeing how you do.
