GIVEAWAY: Be Centsable New Book - How to Cut Your Household Budget in Half

When 8 out of 10 American families live paycheck to paycheck, one thing is very clear to me... most of us need MORE money!  Winning the lottery sounds fun, but good luck!  Finding a better paying job or even a job right now, get in line!  One thing we can do to have more moeny is to reduce our household budgets.  For some of us it's our grocery bill, others utilities, maybe you spend a lot on travel?  What ever consumes your money there's a way to reduce it.  Because let's be honest MONEY is EMOTIONAL!!!

I just got finished reading the book Be Centsable "How to Cut Your Household Budget in Half"!  I was so impressed with Chrissy and Kristin they did an amazing job writing this book!  If, you are serious about reducing your budget, so you have more money than month.  I would definitely feel great about recommending their book!!!  Consider it a tool, that will get your car running, on the path to saving money!!!  I have read multiple books on saving money, but this one is different.  Not only can it teach the beginner to use coupons, but there's instructions for making cheap household cleaners, finding affordable airfares and mattresses, and menu planning!  It really got me excited about saving money again (my mind is running wild)!

Chrissy and Kristen are being so generous they are allowing me to give away TWO copies of their book to YOU!  Winners will be drawn using Random.org on April 15th at noon MST. Winners will be notified via email and have 24 hours to respond.

Personal Finances are one of my favorite topics. I live overseas, in Portugal, hope you can count me in.

1. Budget Reducing tip (groceries): Make a menu plan, make lists according to the menu and shop groceries sticking to this list. In addition, use all coupons, discounts and promotions you can find. Buy store brand products too, they´re as good quality as many expensive brands.

2. I´m now following your blog trough Blogger.

Just started following you....I find the best place to purchase bread is at the outlet stores. I purchase for the month and freeze the loafs until ready to use.

My money saving tip is to have a budget and stick to it. Included in the budget is savings directly to the bank.

Unplug all appliances when not in use - simple and easy and saves WAY more than you think it would (toaster, coffee maker, etc)

Check the grocery store's discount rack for bread, meat, dry goods, etc. They are often in several areas around the store.

1) I often want more than the one Sunday subscription paper we get, and found it's cheaper just to buy an extra copy at The Dollar Tree, than to subscribe for more through the paper itself. Since everything is $1 at the Dollar Tree, its .50 less than buying anywhere else.
You can also go into fast food restaurants anytime on Sundays and check for coupons in the papers people leave behind. I also ask my husband to look through the recycling in the lunchroom at work as people often bring in their Sunday paper.

Reduce food budget:

I often double a recipe if the ingredients are on sale and freeze one meal for later. It's nice to have dinner ready and helps cut down on the food bill.

I will buy coupons on ebay for a buck or 2 (coupons are usually $1.00 off & sold in groups of 10/15 etc) so I spend a buck or 2 & still get to save on the rest, especially when the coupon savings are doubled (King Kullen doubles up to 5, $1 off coupons). I only do this for items I use a lot of (cat food, litter, Tyson chicken).

Don't be afraid to buy off-brand names. You may find you don't like one here or there, but for the ones you do like, you'll save money, and the ones you don't...you didn't spend a lot on it to discover you don't like it!
